Using a Pulse Oximeter
When you are not feeling well and short of breath
I was recently diagnosed with the RSV virus (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) after having many days of shortness of breath at home (CDC. (2020, December 18). People at High Risk for Severe RSV Infection. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. https://www.cdc.gov/rsv/high-risk/index.html, Accessed August 16, 2021).
It was really helpful to have a portable pulse-oxygen saturation monitor, a device that I purchased at Walgreens for $39.99. A portable pulse-ox saturation monitor is small device that painlessly and quickly measures your pulse and oxygen saturation level, or how much oxygen is in the blood.
These portable devices have a sensor that looks like a plastic chip-bag clip and is placed onto your fingertip.
Place your finger into the pulse ox machine and obtain an instantaneous reading of your oxygen saturation and your heart rate.
Watch my video below and learn more about my experience with a portable oxygen saturation monitor during my last three weeks.
Covid-19 and Facemasks
As a reminder, it is very important to wear Facemasks to protect yourself and others during this virulent resurgence of Delta Variant of Covid.
Be safe, stay healthy!
