Power to Heal

Patient Advocacy – “Power to Heal: Medicare and the Civil Rights Revolution”

The documentary “Power to Heal: Medicare and the Civil Rights Revolution” was shown at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at the Reuter Center, University of North Carolina at Asheville (UNCA), May 22, 2019, sponsored by AARP.  I was one of three panelists speaking to Patient Advocacy issues regarding this very powerful documentary.  It is important that patients and families become experts about their own healthcare including disease processes, medications, lab tests, and all procedures.  It is important to learn how to stand up and speak out about advocating for your own healthcare.
